Videos - featuring students from Gloucestershire schools
Students featured in the video below are year 7 - 11 pupils from Barnwood Park Arts College in Gloucester.
The song is their own creation, which has been written with the help of Ben O’Sullivan of The Songwriting Charity. The project is part of a programme of works in secondary schools funded by the Hub and supported by hub partner The Songwriting Charity and our Singing Champion Lisa Mayo.
Students from two Gloucestershire secondary schools
Winchcombe and Balcarras, near Cheltenham, feature in the first two videos below, as the result of singing and songwriting work supported by hub partner The Songwriting Charity, and funded by the Hub.
The activities at Winchcombe involved after school singing, songwriting and young leader workshops and masterclasses, followed by four days of rehearsals, performances and filming in the Postlip Hall, Cheltenham where music leader Ben O'Sullivan has a recording studio.
Balcarras' programme involved a non-audition choir led by students who had previously disengaged from communal singing. Like the Winchcombe students, they learned vocal and leadership skills.
The third video below features Winchcombe students' first taste of work with music leader Ben, through a programme run by The Music Works (previously Gloucestershire Music Makers). Alongside clips of students rehearsing and performing, the head, head of music, and music leader Ben discuss the impact that singing had on pupils, teachers and the school as a whole.

With funding from MMG and Gloucestershire Healthy Living and Learning, the Songwriting Charity has partnered with several other schools across the county to run term-long Vocal Projects which culminated in live performances and professional recordings & music videos.
